Somebody's got the blues

I couldn't resist taking Penelope's picture this morning after I discovered her sucking on a blue Crayola marker. She wasn't sad or upset, only became so after I took the marker away and abandoned her to go retrieve my camera. I also didn't realize how much she had sucked and ingested until this evening when I changed a diaper full of blue pee and blue poop. Like not just a little blue, as bright as the blue in this picture. I've had some interesting finds when I open up a diaper but I saw the blue through this one even before I opened it. I am going to resist the urge to make excuses about how it is possible for me to have left a marker on the floor in the reach of a baby, how I left her alone without checking on her for so long she was able to do this, and how it's just plain white trash to have a child that looks like this. I have no excuses. I was just cleaning up from breakfast, hiding in the kitchen, enjoying an uninterrupted piece of toast and being a good mommy and taking my vitamin. Sometimes these things happen. Sometimes more than not around here! Forgive me, Penelope!

Hey Julie, this is the first time I've gotten to look at your blog probably since you first started! I LOVE it! You make me feel better about what I am going through in Mommy Land. Oh, and we have a blog now, too! I want to follow yours but I don't think you have it set to allow followers...Oh, well, you can "follow" us if you want to! www.familyparke.blogspot.com

Oh, Julie!! It could have been me...no judgment here. Actually, I think I went to Target the other night with Ranen, black marker all over his face. Sad thing was, I didn't even bother to wipe it off. ;-)

I love that you share mommy moments that we all have! Today is one of those days I feel sorry for my kids that I'm their mom...sick, low patience, and Jeremy is out of town. Bad combo.

I'm sitting here trying to laugh silently behind the screen of my laptop (it's the beginning of naptime, and I'm monitoring). This post is awesome. Especially because you will one day be able to show it to Penelope. :)
